Ruth Brooks is the founder and President of FCW. She has over 20 years of wildlife experience, and is a licensed wildlife rehabilitator and registered veterinary technician. For the past 6 years, Ruth managed the clinic hospital for a large wildlife refuge, honing her skills and gaining experience in all aspects of running a busy center. She made the decision to open her own facility, knowing that southern New Jersey has very few licensed wildlife rehabilitators. FCW is able to provide services to the public and the wildlife of this area.
Sharon Morrell brings with her 10 years of informal wildlife education. Sharon has a B.S. in Marine Biology from Richard Stockton College, and has experience designing and implementing programs such as Summer Camps, Overnight programs, Distance Learning, Teacher Workshops, and School and Scout groups. Her favorite aspect of her job is seeing the “light bulb” go on in a child’s eyes when they learn something new about our wildlife friends.
Francis Osenbach is a founding Board Member and comes to us with over 50 years of engineering experience and business management. He has already provided FCW with capital necessary to begin our organization, and has assisted in the construction of several animal enclosures. He will continue to help with financial and operating budget structures.
Dr. James Boutette, originally from Ontario, Canada, moved to the United States in 1993 to start an undergraduate career at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He graduated in 2002 from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine, and went on to pursue both an internship and residency program concentrating on avian and exotic species. His interest in wildlife medicine developed during veterinary school, and he worked during the summers for the American Eagle Foundation, caring for and training many raptor species as well as participating in their educational programs. An internship at the University of Guelph/Ontario Veterinary College included direct supervision of the hospital’s wild bird clinic. He was also very active in both national and international organized student medicine associations under the Student American Veterinary Medicine Association. Currently with Animal and Bird Health Care Center in Cherry Hill, NJ, Dr. Boutette also donates his time and expertise to other local organizations needing veterinary care for resident animals. When time permits, he has succeeded in publishing academic papers and speaks at veterinary continuing education conferences.
Dmitry Cherkassky obtained his Ph.D. in Computer and Information Science from the University of Pennsylvania in 2001. His expertise is in statistical decision theory. He has been involved in wildlife rehabilitation since 2001. He has participated in various citizen science projects, including shorebird surveys to help track the migration of birds along the Atlantic Flyway and bird banding. In his spare time, he helps foster and socialize homeless cats for adoption.
Michael Ginder has 20 years of non profit experience. He is a founding member of The Zen Society and has been involved with wildlife rehabilitation since 2002. From the beginning of his wildlife career he immersed himself in his work gaining as much knowledge as he could from caring for animals, helping with fundraisers, delivering wildlife programs to managing the business aspects of running a center. He is the former Director of a large wildlife center and currently sits on the board of the New Jersey Wildlife Rehabilitators Association.
Lindsey Brooks is our youngest board member, bringing a different perspective to our goals and presentations. She is a member of Psi Chi, the National Honor Society of Psychology, and president of the Psychology Club at Rutgers University in Camden, NJ. Lindsey is applying for her PhD in psychology and has a valuable talent of seeing the strengths and weaknesses in people and what their capabilities are, which is a tremendous help in the human resource arena. Her excellent grammatical skills help us produce our brochures and other reports correctly and with minimal errors. Lindsey is also one of our education animal handlers and participates in programs when her busy schedule allows. |
